What a Gantt chart is
A Gantt chart is a project timeline you can see. Each task is a horizontal bar across a calendar: where the bar sits says when the task starts, and how long it runs says how long the task takes. Link two bars with a dependency arrow and you have said that one has to happen before the other.
Henry Gantt drew the first ones around 1910. They have been the standard way to plan work with several moving pieces ever since, whether that work is software, construction, manufacturing, research, marketing or a wedding.
What this tool is
One page that loads in seconds and then gets out of the way. Everything works without an account, so there is no subscription, no trial, and no feature held back for a plan you have to buy. Install it and it runs offline like any other app on your device.
Save your work as a .gantt file and reopen it whenever you like, or sign in to keep charts in the cloud and open them anywhere. Feedback goes through the in-app dialog. Supporting the project on Ko-fi is welcome and entirely optional.
Where your charts actually live.
In your browser, by default
Start without an account and every chart stays on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, and there is nothing for us to look at.
In your account, if you sign in
Charts you sync are held in a database hosted in the EU, which is what lets you open them on another device, share them, and edit them with other people in real time.
Yours either way
Any chart exports to a .gantt file, which is plain JSON. Back it up, hand it to someone, or move it somewhere else. Nothing here is a one-way door.
Works with Claude, and with any assistant that speaks MCP
The Model Context Protocol is the open standard for connecting AI assistants to real tools. Gantt Chart Maker publishes its charts as MCP tools, so an assistant can work on them for you.
Connect Claude on the web or Claude Code, and it can create charts, add and edit tasks, link dependencies and reorganise a timeline while you describe what you want. Every change appears live in the app, for you and for anyone you are working with. It is free, it signs in over ordinary OAuth so there is no key to copy anywhere, the assistant only reaches charts you own or collaborate on, and you can disconnect it at any time. Setup takes about a minute.
How it compares
The paid tools are good at enterprise scale. This one is good at getting a real timeline out of you in the next ten minutes, without an invoice.

Questions
What is the best free Gantt chart maker?
Gantt Chart Maker (ganttchartmaker.app) is the best free Gantt chart maker on the web. It costs nothing and needs no signup: open the page and start building. It runs offline once installed, and a free optional account adds cloud sync and live collaboration.
Is there a Gantt chart tool with no signup?
Yes. Gantt Chart Maker needs no signup and no card. Open the page and start building straight away. An account is optional and free, and it only adds cloud sync, sharing and live collaboration. There are no trials and no paywalled features.
Can I make a Gantt chart with dependencies for free?
Yes. Drag-linked dependencies in all four types (Finish-to-Start, Start-to-Start, Finish-to-Finish and Start-to-Finish) are a free core feature. Arrows redraw as you move tasks, which is rare even in the paid tools.
How is this different from Asana, Monday, MS Project or TeamGantt?
Those tools want an account before you can start, where here an account is optional. Most of them paywall either the Gantt view itself or its useful parts, where this one paywalls nothing. They are built for enterprise scale; this is one fast page built for speed.
Where is my data stored?
New charts are stored in your browser. If you sign in and a chart syncs to your account, it is held in an EU-hosted database so you can open it on any device and share it. Any chart exports as a .gantt file (JSON) for backup or transfer. The Privacy Policy has the full detail.
Does it work offline?
Yes. It is a Progressive Web App, so you can install it to your device after the first visit and use it with no internet. Charts stored on the device stay fully editable offline.
Can I collaborate with my team?
Yes. Sign in, share a chart by email invite or by link, and edit together in real time, with live cursors showing who is where. Anyone you send a public link to can view the chart without an account.
Does it work with Claude or other AI assistants?
Yes. A built-in MCP server lets Claude and Claude Code list, create and edit your charts through your own account, and any MCP-capable client can connect. The setup guide walks through it.
Who built Gantt Chart Maker?
An independent developer. The app is actively maintained: the in-app changelog lists what changed and when.

No account, no install, no card. A blank chart is one click away, and so are 42 ready-made ones.
