Printing and exporting
Can I save my chart as a PDF?
Yes. Choose Export, then Document. Pick a paper size from A5 to A0, or Auto-fit for a page shaped like your chart, and the PDF downloads straight away.
Can I export my chart as a picture?
Yes. Export, then Image, gives you a PNG or a JPG at any size up to 4K, or an SVG file that stays sharp however far you enlarge it.
Can I export to Excel or Microsoft Project?
Yes. The task list exports as a CSV or Excel file, and the whole plan as a Microsoft Project XML file or a TaskJuggler file, alongside our own .gantt format.
Bringing a plan in
Which files can I open?
Load File opens .gantt files, Excel (XLSX or XLS) and CSV task lists, Microsoft Project XML files and TaskJuggler files.
Can I move a plan over from Microsoft Project?
Yes. In Microsoft Project, save the plan as an XML file, then open that file here with Load File. Tasks, dates, progress and dependencies come across with it.
Sharing and working together
Can I share a chart with someone?
Yes. Sign in, open the chart and choose Share. Invite people by email, or turn on a link that anyone can open.
Can we edit the same chart at the same time?
Yes. Everyone you invite as an editor works on the same chart live, and you see each other’s cursors as you go.
Can someone view my chart without an account?
Yes. Set the chart’s general access to Anyone with the link, and whoever opens the link can view the chart without signing in.
Your account and your charts
Is Gantt Chart Maker free?
Yes. There is no paid plan, no trial and no feature held back. If you would like to support the project, you can do that on Ko-fi.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the app and start building. An account is free and optional, and you can sign in with Google or GitHub. It adds the things that need a server: saving to the cloud, sharing and live collaboration.
Where are my charts saved?
Without an account, a chart lives in the open tab only. Save it as a .gantt file to keep it; the browser warns you before you close a tab with unsaved changes. Signed in, a chart saves to your account as soon as it has its first task, in a database hosted in the EU. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Install it from your browser and it opens without an internet connection, so you can keep planning and save your work as a .gantt file. Saving to your account and sharing need a connection.
Which languages does it speak?
Eight: English, Greek, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Swedish and Finnish.
AI assistants
Can an AI assistant build a chart for me?
Yes. Gantt Chart Maker has an MCP server, so Claude and other assistants that support MCP can create and edit charts in your account while you describe the project. The MCP server page shows how to connect one.
